SalaryWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Auditor to join our Local Authority client in Hampshire. As a key member of this well-regarded function, it is a great opportunity for you to experience and develop your auditing skills within a local government environment.
You will conduct audits across a range of council functions and provide value to the organisation through audit and agreeing actions for improvements with regards to the Council's processes and procedures, and provide assurance on the effectiveness of governance and risk management across the Council.
It is a varied role and you will carry out audit reviews across all Council services for example you may be reviewing, refuse collection, car parking, outdoor sports facilities, income collection and payment of suppliers.
This will include reviewing and testing processes and procedures, agreeing actions for improvements in financial and other controls and advising managers and employees on financial regulation. There will also be the opportunity to provide support on projects as well as involvement in special investigations as required.
With this role comes the opportunity for development, supported by funded study to further an appropriate professional qualification.
About you
You will be a:
- Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors to at least CIA/Practitioner level; or
- Fully qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or hold an equivalent professional qualification.
- Have an appropriate financial or business-related degree; and
- Have a minimum of 3 years working in an internal auditing environment with demonstrable experience of leading or working within a team.
You will have a keen interest in business and finance, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and develop. Clear communication skills both oral and written are essential as is self-motivation and the ability to work in a professional manner within a team. You'll also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
