SENIOR LECTURER IN EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDIES with Safeguarding Duties
JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high-quality teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, primarily in the area of Early Childhood Studies.
The BA ECS degree programme is taught as both a three-year full-time, and four-year part-time, programme. It incorporates a significant degree of collaborative provision with two Regional Colleges across Northern Ireland. The degree focuses on aspects of Early Childhood education and care for children in the age phase 0 to 8 years, their families and their communities. Since its inception in 1996, it has enabled the professionalisation of the workforce across voluntary, private and statutory sectors.
The person appointed will primarily be based in the Academic Area of Early Childhood Studies but, in line with College policy, they will be expected to teach across other programmes as required and proactively contribute to the development and implementation of relevant University College’s strategies.
The post-holder will also be required to lead safeguarding in the College across all relevant degree programmes, including BEd, PGCE and BA.
The post-holder must make a positive contribution to achieving the goals set out in the University College’s Corporate Plan and contribute to the College’s income generation strategy.
The post-holder will be expected to engage in research and scholarly activity.
