This person will be responsible for leading a Halifax-based team of Payroll and people operations consultants to oversee the running of our UK and Crown Dependencies Payroll and to work with platform specialists to drive payroll simplification and improvement.

- HOURS: Full Time
- WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Halifax hub.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to join our People Operations to lead on Payroll Operations. This person will be responsible for leading a Halifax-based team of Payroll and people operations consultants to coordinate the running of our UK and Crown Dependencies Payroll and to work with platform specialists to drive payroll simplification and improvement.
Responsible for leading a department of Payroll and operations consultants and being responsible for our third party payroll provider to operate Payroll and other HR administrative processes, you will be accountable for paying accurately 65,000 colleagues in a highly regulated environment. Following the transition to Workday payroll in the UK, you will be using analytics and insights to identify opportunities to drive further efficiencies and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional/specialist expertise and input into the development and implementation of HR and payroll operations..
- Influence, develop and empower colleagues, crafting a high performing team that will deliver business objectives..
- Engage with stakeholders, providing mentorship, advice and challenge in order to support the delivery of LBG values and behaviours.
- Develop a network of colleagues and external advisers, keeping abreast of best practice in order to influence development.
- Review and evaluate all decisions to identify and ensure all risks (financial, people, regulatory and operational) are handled and mitigated optimally.
- Building and delivering a backlog to continue to enhance operational management and simplified processes.
What we’ll need from you
- Extensive operational and legislative experience in UK payroll operations in a large organisation (including Benefit in Kind, tax, payroll employment law).
- Operational and supplier management experience
- Risk management and controls experience
- Experience working with agile change and tech teams to implement transformational change
- Proven success in effectively communicating data insights to stakeholders, promoting data-driven decision-making and driving operational simplification and improvement.
- Ability to undertake team coaching, performance management and leadership.
- Experience in presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience of Workday payroll would also be useful.
