Development of complex innovative, well engineered conceptual solutions and design proposals, and guide other engineers, designers to produce detailed CAD design layouts and manufacturing drawings. Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval. Analyzes mechanical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Lead fellow team members to improve efficiency and accuracy. Support Investigations, solutions and write reports Be prepared to assist with other engineering duties (e.g. testing, experimentation, modelling, CAD design etc) as work-load may demand from time to time Provides technical guidance and engineering leadership to projects and team members through mentoring and training of others in team or department. What youll bring The role of Senior Mechanical Engineer requires the following experience and skills: Experience: Essential 10 -15 years mechanical and Design Engineering experience. Proven full product life cycle design. Desirable Aerospace and Defense Engineering experience. High pressure pneumatics Electrical/Electronic knowledge, including electrical cabling in extreme environments (aerospace) and electronics packaging. Skills/ knowledge: Systems Engineering requirements understanding. Geometric Tolerancing, Stack-Up Analysis, BS8888 3D CAD, ideally Solid Works and SolidWorks PDM. Good understanding of Design Office practices, Drawing Issue and Change processes Technical Report / Procedure writing. Ability to resolve challenges quickly and ingeniously Design products with low costs from the outset (DFMA & Design to Cost methodologies) Perform work accurately with minimal supervision; Mechanical Engineering Calculations, Stress Analysis, Fluid Dynamics (FEA and CFD). Education/ qualifications: BEng, BSc, MSc, MEng in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or similar subject/qualification. Professional Membership Member of IMechE or IET or working towards Chartered membership (preferred).
