Salary: Up to £55,210 dependent on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for designing and developing key Mechanical systems within the Underwater Weapons sector
- Providing technical engineering support and guidance to Mechanical Engineering design activities for new and legacy products
- Undertaking functional design and/or providing qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, regulatory & legislative requirements, and safety
- Providing assurance that the design is adequate i.e., it is robust, and provide supporting documentation for the safety case
- Contributing to and leading design review discussions/meetings
- Assisting Engineering Governance and Requirements Capture activities
- Taking part in supplier/stakeholder meetings
- Supporting the development of other early careers engineers within the discipline
Your skills and experiences:
- Have a detailed understanding of the principles and approaches underpinning Mechanical Engineering design and development. Will have an understanding, knowledge and experience in Mechanical Engineering design and development of systems, sub-systems, assemblies and components
- Strongly desirable to have experience in one of the following: Thermal Systems, Fluid Systems, HP Systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Requires excellent communication and diplomacy skills; must understand technical instructions and be able to communicate technical information to others
- Typically, be at CEng level (or equivalent level of capability) or in the final stages of achieving CEng status
