About the job:
You will join a fast-paced team of dedicated communications professionals across media, social media, content and stakeholders. We take a pro-active approach to our work and place an importance on building professional relationships with the media. Policing is undergoing fundamental change and you will be part of a team supporting the service and the College by delivering strong, well thought out communications.
You will spend some time on the frontline with officers to understand their job; be a part of training that aims to improve how policing is done; and work in an organisation that is committed to public service. The role involves unique access to all ranks and grades across policing as part of your job to communicate to the media.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Develop creative ideas with a focus on proactive work to explain to the public the role of the College and how its work prevents crime and protects the public
- Write high quality press releases and press packs to promote College initiatives in the national and international media and on the College of Policing website.
- Provide media support and constructive feedback to College of Policing representatives to ensure they are briefed and prepared ahead of any interviews with journalists
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Successful experience of delivering a broad range of press and media relations services within an organisation
- Experience of delivering crisis management communications to protect organisational reputation
- Experience of working in the media/ a public sector organisation / policing environment
