Temporary Senior Payroll Officer
Remote / Hybrid (1-2 days office depending on experience)
Salary £14 - £16 per hour
Location - Stafford
Hamilton Woods are working with a fantastic leading provider of homes looking for a Senior Payroll Officer on a temporary 3-month basis. A great opportunity to be responsible for the effective production of the group's payroll, including the support of the Payroll Officers. Assist the Payroll Manager with projects and provide technical support to meet the demands of the service and business.

Duties:

Payroll Delivery

  • Support the Payroll Officers in the accurate delivery of all payroll's under the Housing Plus Group, making all relevant adjustments and deductions as appropriate and dispatching all payroll documentation to employees.
  • To be responsible for ensuring all employee-related expenses claims are accurately coded and authorised with all necessary supporting documentation and payments processed through the group's payroll systems after carrying out all financial checks deemed necessary.
  • To support the Payroll Officer's in responding to all payroll queries from the Group's employees and external sources and ensure confidentiality on payroll matters, and to support the Payroll Officers in dealing with escalated or critical matters.
  • Reconcile payments to the Payroll and the Nominal Ledger Suspense Accounts.

Technical Knowledge & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll and pension legislation (including HMRC), reporting to Directors and Board as required.
  • To support the Payroll Officers and payroll manager during the audit of payroll, co-ordinating data requests and meeting with internal and external auditors to ensure they have the full data requirements they need and to ensure audit regulations and requirements are met.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge of all payroll and pension legislation at all times

General

  • Provide appropriate reporting systems, preparing and presenting reports as required.
  • Ensure that maximum use is made of information technology systems within the department.
  • Ensure that the values of the organisation are displayed throughout all work activities.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in a payroll team and processing payrolls from start to finish.
  • Experience of working within a project team and playing a key role within the project delivery
  • Computer skills: general IT skills and excellent working knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, lookups)
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Able to work within processes and policies and able to suggest improvements and changes.
  • Strong belief in excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Knowledge and experience of administering statutory legislation.
  • Experience working with Civica system and payroll.
