Job description

Professional Be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of his/her own work in accordance with the CSP core standards, the Health Professions Council and the Trust clinical guidelines. Support the senior clinicians in service delivery and be actively involved in service developments within the team. Undertake the measurement and evaluation of his/her work and current practices through the use of evidence based projects, audit and outcome measures. Communicate in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures. Undergo an annual appraisal program in line with local policies and procedures, ensuring the highest possible standards of care through commitment to CPD. Participate in and be responsible for complying with his/her agreed personal development program to meet set levels of knowledge and competencies. Attend mandatory training and adhere to all trust policies and procedures. Be an active member, by attendance at and participation in, the inservice training programme. Ensure own and staff compliance with Professional, Trust and departmental standards for documentation. Clincal Implement therapy programs, utilising and interpreting a range of facts relating to the patients condition and apply clinical reasoning skills to the assessment, planning and implementation of the therapy process in consultation with the patient, carer and multidisciplinary team. Monitor and evaluate treatment plans, maintain accurate records for all patients; some of whom may have complex conditions and issues; and manage any identified risks appropriately. Demonstrate advanced treatment and reasoning skills required for therapy assessment and treatment, using appropriate therapeutic models, approaches and handling technique. Use evidence based practice, alongside own knowledge, skills and experience; and in line with legislation, policies and procedures; to empower patients to realise and maintain their potential. Critically appraise and use evidence based practice and continually develop this base of knowledge within the specialist field. Gain valid informed consent, prior to the delivery of interventions5 which must be documented and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who back capacity to consent to treatment. Use developed skills to identify complex psycho-social issues, cultural and social differences, in order to treat individuals appropriately. Involve the individual in all aspects of their treatment program, respecting their dignity, wishes and beliefs throughout all interventions. Utilise a range of communication and management skills to instruct, inform and negotiate in order to achieve active patient participation, a cohesive approach to treatment and successful case management. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other disciplines, departments and organisations e.g. MDT meetings, case conferences, discharge planning and report writing. Take an active part in the delivery and implementation of the clinical governance agenda for the service and the department. Managerial Involve patients, staff and the public in the design of service delivery. Support team development, to enable the development of others and to assist in their knowledge and skills in practice. Support the training of qualified and unqualified staff so that tasks can be delegated appropriately and prioritise and assess workloads of the above staff groups as necessary. Supervise, appraise and support the supervision of junior staff and students within the service. Monitor workload within his/her own service area and feedback, to senior staff, any team pressures as they arise. Monitor and manage risks involved in work activities and processes for self, colleagues and patients. Contribute to the recruitment and selection process. Assist in the management of change within the service as improvements are implemented. Assist in the planning and organisation of systems of work in the service and monitor effective implementation. Contribute to the improvement of services. Gather, record and safely store information / data as required. There may be opportunities to undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar level from time to time subject to prior agreement.
