Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking to recruit Social Workers,  Senior Social Workers and Senior Practitioners in the South and North, West and Central areas of the city, within our Assessment and Short -Term Intervention teams.

We are looking for Social Workers and Senior Practitioners who are enthusiastic and motivated to deliver good quality social work intervention to children and their families. Ideal candidates should have experience in assessing families under s17 and s47 Children Act 1989, presenting at Initial Child Protection Conference and devising and holding short term Child in Need Plans.

You will be part of a team on duty every five weeks, picking up new families each duty cycle. The office bases are Lifford House and One Avenue Road and teams are, on a rolling rota, coming into the office a minimum of two days per week.

The ideal candidate should enjoy working as part of a busy front- line team where no two days are the same. You will be part of a settled and stable service,  overseen by a permanent team manager and head of service.

Birmingham Children’s Trust is going from strength to strength. We are the largest provider of family support and social care services for children, young people and families in the country. Our goal is to become a centre of excellence in both social care and family support. By choosing to work for us, you will be part of a supportive, dynamic service contributing to our service improvement journey to ‘Outstanding’.

Working in the Trust gives you the opportunity to acquire a diverse set of professional experiences; and exceptional professional development.

Our size means it is possible to develop your entire social work career in the Trust, thus allowing you to build on your current experience and progress in your social work practice and develop specialist skills.

Join us and you will be able to ‘do the job you came into social work to do’.   We are an independent organisation, which enables us to focus, single-mindedly on the safety and welfare of children and young people across the city.  As well as focusing on your welfare and wellbeing too.

You will work within our relationship-based, trauma informed family-led practice model.  You will be confident in your social work practice and be able to make informed decisions.  You will be a highly skilled assessor who understands statutory requirements, as well as implementing, monitoring and reviewing children’s wellbeing and play a key role within multi-agency meetings.

There has never been a better time to join Birmingham Children’s Trust and build on your career.

An ASTI Senior Social Worker who joined us in July 2021, says:

'I've never felt so welcome in my team and wider service, everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have received such a thorough and in-depth induction and initial training initial support in starting a new role, joining the Trust was the best decision'.
