Senior Process Engineer

Our historic company are looking for a Process Engineer to join the team. Open to someone being ready to step up to senior role or an established senior ready for a new challenge. The role will provide technically and commercially strong project solutions, with a focus on design
Purpose of the role
- Undertake design of process components in support of Principal and Lead Process Engineers
- Act as Lead Process Engineer for smaller projects
- Provide Company-wide support on all aspects of Process Engineering within the fields of liquefied gases.
Duties
- Ensuring the technical integrity of design of assigned projects
- Supervising assigned Process Engineers
- Production and checking of design project deliverables on time and to budget
- Selecting and developing process scheme and process operating/control philosophies to provide best available technical/commercial solutions
- Preparation of process documents including design basis, process description, design philosophies, alarm and trip schedules and operating/commissioning procedures
- Preparation and maintenance of heat and material balances using Hysys software
- Supervising the preparation and maintenance of process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, line lists and process data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation using SmartPlant P&ID software
- Carrying out process equipment sizing calculations such as piping/instrument sizes, pump capacity/duty, heat duty, vessel sizing, etc.
- Reviewing and evaluating documentation supplied by vendors
- Leading and coordinating the review of design documentation supplied by other contractors, reporting findings and closing-out issues raised
- Representing design team/Company in P&ID, HAZOP, SIL and other safety reviews
- Supervising commissioning operations for cryogenic storage tank cooldown
- Supporting the Proposals team in development of bids and in the production of man-hour estimates against known scopes of work
- Proactively carrying out engineering analysis, design, specification and procedural work where a benefit is identified
- Following Company working procedures in the development of design documentation and in the use of SmartPlant Engineering Environment
- Coordinating designers/draughters for development of process drawings
- Communicating issues encountered in design to own and other disciplines to ensure the efficiency of the project team
- Pursuing ideas for continuous improvement within own discipline, Engineering Department or the Company
- Working with other disciplines to ensure that the design intent of a project is achieved

Desirable
Qualifications & Knowledge
Degree or equivalent in Chemical and/or Process Engineering, as accredited by IChemE
Chartered engineer
Trained in use of SmartPlant P&ID
Experience
Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries
Process aspects of various project phases from conceptual study through FEED and EPC to commissioning and operation
Experience of working with process design software tools (eg Hysys) and performing and optimising process simulation design
Supervising and enabling other Process Engineers to achieve deliverables, schedules and targets
Cryogenic handling and storage/ light-end hydrocarbon processing experience
Experience working with overseas clients and external design houses
Experience of the content and application of codes, standards and accepted working practices in the Oil & Gas Industry
Commissioning of process plant
Skills & Aptitudes
Self-planning to deliver assigned work to agreed timescales and man-hours.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions such as look-up tables.
