Opportunity…
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer you will report into the Commissioning Manager and be required to support the management and progression of key milestones throughout the commissioning phase of the HPC project.
As the Senior Project Engineer, you will be required to deputise for the Commissioning Manager and therefore be required to regularly lead meetings / accountabilities and engage with senior level stakeholders throughout the business. This will also include supporting the Commissioning Manager in interactions with the project’s regulators (ONR and EA) on behalf of the Commissioning Programme Director.
You will have the unique opportunity to develop a broad understanding of all elements of the Commissioning Programme organisation and arrangements including the technical delivery. They will play an important role in ensuring that the Commissioning Programme and wider Project will be delivered Safely to schedule, cost and to the required quality standards.
The commissioning team will evolve throughout the lifecycle of the project, you will contribute to the defining of commissioning processes, and support the recruitment, training, and development of suitably qualified and experienced personnel to support this. - Accountable to a Commissioning Manager in the NNB HPC Project team.
- Engaging with senior levels of the HPC organisation to ensure the commissioning programme is progressing to plan and any risks are identified and mitigated.
- Developing commissioning processes and procedures relating various aspects of the end – end delivery of all commissioning activities.
- Providing information to assist the Commissioning Manager and Senior Commissioning Manager in meeting project-level objectives and milestones.
- Ensuring that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects best practice in international safety and technical
excellence.
Who you are…
- You will have a technical engineering background in a relevant engineering discipline and experience of leading others in a project-driven environment.
- You will have a delivery mindset, be able to get results through clear accountability and the confidence to influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
- You will have the ability to recognise, coach and develop the skills of others, creating an environment of safety, empowerment, and trust in a diverse team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment. You may also have any of the following:
- Experience in the design, commissioning, maintenance and/or operations, particularly in the nuclear industry.
- Familiarity with safety case process and design substantiation
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of the impact of change.
- French language skills would be advantageous.
- Some experience leading technical teams
- Full member (or working towards full membership) of an internationally recognised engineering body.
