The Opportunity

Join us as our next Senior Project Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role delivering temporary commissioning projects and shaping Hinkley Point C's future operational support arrangements. Embrace a dynamic mix of office and site-based work as you ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

With no direct reports expected, you'll have the autonomy to drive project success and ensure delivery of all engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities in alignment with safety, quality, and cost parameters.

What you will be doing

As the Senior Project Engineer, you'll lead the timely and quality delivery of specific activities, overseeing contracts and detailed schedules throughout the project lifecycle. Your leadership will be pivotal in guiding diverse project team members, identifying key resources, and ensuring clear communication of roles and responsibilities. Other roles and responsibilities also include:

• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, supporting day-to-day activities to ensure alignment with project objectives in safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Together with a multi-disciplinary team, work towards achieving common objectives with enthusiasm and dedication.
• Define the scope of work within the contract or package, identifying interfaces with other program elements, under the guidance of the Project Manager.
• Take charge of managing the delivery of assigned small projects, jobs, and tasks, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively according to established procedures.
• Prepare and maintain essential project documentation, including Project Definition Documents, Project Briefs, and Quality Plans, to ensure clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and implement execution strategies and plans aligned with the overall program execution plan (PEP), providing clear direction on how the program of work will be managed, organised, and executed.
• Maintain open and effective communication with stakeholders, executing project strategies within your assigned contract or package of work to drive success and ensure everyone is on the same page.
• Under the guidance of the Project Manager, lead the delivery of contract or package activities, ensuring they meet safety, time, budget, and technical requirements. Monitor progress, track milestones, and provide stakeholders with comprehensive progress reports, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project.

Who you are

As our next Senior Project Engineer, we're looking for you to utilise your previous experiences in similar roles within project or engineering. Although holding a degree in a relevant subject plus being chartered or equivalent would be desirable, we're looking for you to hold the following to be suitable for this position:

• Prior experience in negotiating EPC/Service Agreement contracts is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to effectively manage and facilitate negotiations with potential suppliers and tender bidders, including interfacing with a commercial multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including Construction Design Management and Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Proficiency in budget monitoring, commercial awareness, and contractor management.
• Strong understanding of the importance of Quality within the project environment, including familiarity with Quality Assurance documentation and adherence to governance frameworks.
• Proficient in preparing reports and information using software packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Relevant project experience in engineering/construction projects, including the application of project management processes.
