We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join us in a new and exciting role that forms part of a transformation project within Mitie Communities .
The Transformation team is responsible for identifying and leading the delivery of change across the Local Government and Education sector's organisational functions, technology and processes.
The Local Government & Education (LGE) Sector is part of Mitie's Communities division serving the needs of public sector clients. Our clients are mainly local councils, universities, schools and blue light services. We have a mixture of traditional and PFI contracts spread across the length and breadth of the UK
We deliver on-site Facilities Management services encompassing cleaning, caretaking, utilities management, landscaping and engineering. The team is newly formed, highly motivated and we have a fantastic opportunity to make a huge difference to our end customers and their enjoyment of their buildings and facilities.
Within LGE, the Performance & Transformation team is responsible for identifying and leading the delivery of change across the Local Government and Education sector's organisational functions, technology and processesAs a Senior Project Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead the delivery of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) ‘Handback' plans across the sector. This involves setting up project management methodology, ensuring standards, and driving continuous improvement
You will coordinate PFI Handback plans, lead matrix-managed projects, liaise with account teams and leadership, and actively implement project activities. Your hands-on approach will be crucial to success.
The ideal candidate will be a confident problem solver and have seasoned project management experience, including handling multiple projects with remote team members. You should possess a broad understanding of business scope and change management. Previous experience in delivering to multi-site, geographically dispersed Operations teams is valuable. Strong team leadership and matrix management skills are necessary.
Your familiarity with project management methodologies and practices is essential. Additionally, experience in the Facilities Management (FM) or related industry will be advantageous.
While not mandatory, exposure to the public sector, particularly local government or education, is preferred. Understanding Private Finance Initiatives and experience in outsourcing or managing multiple clients would also be beneficial.
