SalaryAbatec are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, to join our client, a well-known, tier one, civil engineering contractor to take commercial control of a £24million highway scheme in Plymouth. Our client work with Plymouth City Council on a single-source framework (SCAPE) and has visibility of work for the next 9 years ensuring security of work long after this project.
This project is in pre-construction at the moment and will begin this summer. Phase 1 will involve building a new intersection, costing £8 million, and phase 2, will widen a single-lane highway to a dual-lane carriageway and junction, costing £16 million.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will be:
- Commercial Management of projects from post-tender to final accounts, including cost budgeting, cash flow management, and presenting CVRs and Scheme Forecasts within business and contractual timeframes.
- Change Management including the drafting of contractual correspondence, administration and the subsequent valuation, agreement, and Implementation of Compensation Events.
- Managing subcontracts from procurement to completion, including scope collation, drafting enquiries, production, agreement, remeasurement, payments, and final accounts to achieve Main Contract objectives.
- Generally, to provide valued commercial support, input and analysis on project and construction issues, contributing to the overall project strategy and decision-making process.
Our client requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor with:
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
- An accomplished working knowledge of the NEC4 suite of contracts.
- Experience of managing and mentoring a small team of less experienced commercial staff.

Salary/Benefits:
- Up to £70,000 per annum
- Up to £4,200 car allowance or company car
- Offers hybrid working 2 days a week
- 25days holiday + bank holidays
- Employer pension scheme up to 8%
