We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work as number one QS on a new build project in North Devon, on an NEC4 contract. The SQS would need to be involved through a pre-construction stage, and then into construction.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing the entire civils/construction package, taking the project through to completion and performing in a client facing position, completing cost value reconciliations, and attending regular meetings with the client.
The right person will be switched on, dynamic and motivated. Effective communication and a sense of urgency to ensure deadlines are met is key.

Responsibilities:
- Procurement
- Contracts & claims
- Control and administration of sub-contractor packages and orders
- Cost value reconciliations (CVR)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Monitor labour, plant and materials spend
- Manage & monitor costs and ensure projects are completed within their projected budget
- Conducting site surveys (re-measure) & creating progress reports, cost plans and cashflow forecasts
- Preparation of and making applications for payments
- Attending site and client meetings
- Liaison with client and project management team with respect to cost control on the projects
- Undertake value engineering where required by client
- Ensure client variations and technical queries are obtained and valued correctly
- Produce monthly cost reports
- Settlement of final accounts
- Adhoc commercial tasks
Requirements
- Must have experience working for a tier 1 contractor as Senior QS within the construction industry.
- Must have strong NEC 4 contract experience.
- Must be willing to travel to Exeter office and site in North Devon. Contract will be initially hybrid but will require the SQS to be site based once construction commences later in the year.
- Must have strong experience within cost value reconciliations.
- HND / HNC or degree in quantity surveying.
- COINS experience is an advantage.
- Experience managing a team of QS's.
- Excellent communication and organisation.
- Comfortable in client facing position, liaising with all levels and holding regular client meetings.
- Computer literate e.g. Microsoft office suite.
