West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Social Worker to join our Education Services Service and work within our Children with Disabilities Team.
As the Senior Social Worker, you will report directly to the Children with Disabilities Team Manager and play a crucial role in providing high-quality support and intervention to children and their families. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing care plans, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate services to meet the individual needs of each child. Additionally, you will provide supervision and guidance to a team of Social Workers, promoting a positive and collaborative working environment.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration with Social Work England.
- Extensive experience in working with children and families, particularly within the field of disabilities
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, service users, and external partners
- Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate and inspire a team

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
