Overall Purpose of Role: Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in safeguarding and protecting children and young people? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Decision Makers in our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). As a Decision Maker, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality social work services, ensuring the welfare of children and young people in accordance with legal and statutory obligations.
Main Accountabilities:
- Case Decision Making: You will have direct accountability for making decisions on children’s cases referred to the MASH, determining necessary actions and applying appropriate thresholds for statutory intervention within agreed timescales.
- Leadership and Management: Provide professional leadership for staff within the team, organizing workload, providing induction, line management, and operational supervision of support staff to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Quality Assurance: Improve the quality of casework through case file audits, implementing learning from audit activities and observations into social work practice.
- Information Management: Provide accurate information to the Team Manager, establishing and maintaining information systems to ensure best practice and inform performance and budget management.
- Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Develop effective partnerships with other agencies and services involved to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
- Health and Safety: Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of yourself and others by complying with policies and procedures related to health and safety.
- Additional Duties: Carry out any other duties within the broad spirit and scope of the job description as required.
Person Specification:Qualifications Required:
- Degree in Social Work/Certified Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)/Certificate in Social Service (CSS)/Diploma in Social Work (SWSP)/Home Office letter of recognition.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Care Council on the Social Care Register.
- Hold or be willing to undertake post-qualification awards in Social Work or appropriate discipline/service.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience in statutory and multidisciplinary frameworks.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, national policies, and procedures for Social Work.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring staff within children’s services.
- Experience in managing positive working relationships.
- Experience in assessment processes and child protection environment.
- Experience in conflict resolution and risk management.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective negotiating skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to identify and manage risks to children and respond immediately to safeguarding actions.
- Awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s needs.
