Job Description
Senior Engineer/Scientist (GNSS)
Bristol or Cambridge (Hybrid)
Up to £65,000
- Chance to work for a company making moves in the autonomous vehicle, smartwatch and wearables space.
- Contribute to the research and development of industry leading technology.
- Significant personal/professional development opportunities.
I am working with a super innovative tech company that specialises in the GNSS space. They have been around for close to a decade and have recently transitioned from an R&D company to a product-centric one, they’ve had some considerable success recently, especially within the smartphone and autonomous vehicle domain both in the UK and Silicon Valley.
They’re looking for an engineer/scientist to join their GNSS team to work on their core software product and patented chipset technology. This innovative tech significantly increases the sensitivity and accuracy of GNSS receivers, and they are currently the only receivers that can determine the arrival angle of satellite signals with software signal processing alone. Naturally, the main industries this will impact are automotive, smartphones and wearables and these advancements will enable the development of the next generation of location-dependent products and services.
The company has offices in Bristol and Cambridge and due to the highly collaborative nature of the business and emphasis put on F2F training, they are looking for people willing to commit to a couple of days in the office. I met with the team in their brand new Bristol offices before Christmas and it’s a stunning workspace.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role it’s essential you have commercial GNSS experience and knowledge of signal processing. You’ll also need to have strong programming skills in C++ and MATLAB.
Beyond the essentials, here’s some stuff that would also be useful to have.
- Source Control
- Synthetic Aperture Processing (SAR)
- Probabilistic estimation techniques such as Kalman filters
- Multi-sensor fusion techniques
- Multipath mitigation methods
This is a great opportunity to join a company that truly values its employees. They have a generous L&D budget and encourage everyone to continually learn and develop, attend training courses and conferences and generally work in a highly collaborative way. You’ll get a great benefits package including above industry standard employee contribution and the possibility to obtain shares over time.
