The Identity & Trust (ID&T) service are tasked with implementing the DWP strategy for the remote identification of citizens, third parties and organisations, enabling digital self-service and agent led customer journeys.
We are also responsible for the secure data access management to data held across the department's estate, ensuring that data access is always in line with legal, privacy and policy rules, appropriate to the access being requested.
ID&T Services are looking for Solution Architects to join their small architecture team. This role requires architects with experience of designing solutions for deployment into public cloud (AWS preferred) environments.
This role is ideally suited to architects with knowledge, experience of or interest in Customer Identity Access Management (CIAM) and related technical standards e.g., SAML, OAuth, OIDC etc.
This is also ideally suited to architects with an understanding of modern data security, data privacy, GDPR and associated technologies such as Verifiable Credentials and Distributed Identities (DIDs).
Job description
The successful candidate for this role will:
- Provide architecture advice to one or more product delivery squads in ID&T, blending technical (public cloud development and architecture) and behavioural (leadership and communication) skills.
- ?Work with other architects within ID&T, across the department and across wider government, to ensure solutions are consistent, strategically matched, and interoperable.
- Ensure solutions meet the Departmental Architecture standards, re-using patterns where possible, and represent solutions to the Digital Design Authority (DDA) at various stages of the product development.
- Actively participate in the ID&T Technical Forum, applying architecture input to inform decisions and outcomes that apply across the ID&T development teams.

Hybrid Working
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £52,412 to £70,000.
The maximum salary for the grade is £63,517, however a Digital Allowance of up to £6,483 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
