Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. In this role the individual will act as the Systems leader for integrated SPOCT (Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls, and Transient Analysis) teams within the RISE Open Fan program. Activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality solutions, meeting both functional and physical requirements. The systems engineering discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, application of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations. This position will focus on integration of the SPOCT team (Systems, Performance Operability, Controls, and Transient Analysis). Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams.
- Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Will lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering environment
- Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer, fluid mechanics, propulsion or turbomachinery aerodynamics from an accredited college or university.
- At least 6 years of experience in systems, performance, operability, controls, transient performance, aerodynamics, or thermal / energy system engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with industry propulsion system modeling tools, particularly NPSS
- Familiarity with programing languages such as C++ and Python
- Experience with requirements management
- Proven facilitation and collaboration skills; demonstrated technical project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to actively and clearly communicate complex technical issues to program leadership teams.
