SalaryAre you a Structural Engineer looking for an exciting new challenge in Leeds? We are seeking a Structural Engineer with Design experience to join an award-winning Construction Business. The role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package plus a hybrid working pattern.
This role will see you working as part of the Leeds based Structural Engineering team focussing on a diverse portfolio of projects in the UK and further afield. This is a technically demanding role and we are ideally looking for creative candidates with experience in the structural delivery of complex projects.
Candidates will be supported to lead the structural design on projects, with further progression opportunities available. In addition, ideal candidates will be conscious of changes in the industry such as in reducing embodied carbon and modern methods of construction in structural design.
Key duties:
Role and Responsibilities
• Carry out detailed design calculations to up-to-date Eurocodes
• Manage the technicians undertaking detailed design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes
• Supervision and mentoring the junior members of the team
• Assist with management of all the team’s projects, resources and making key commercial decisions on fee spend to suit an ever-changing broad spectrum of projects
• Collaborate with design teams both within Ridge and externally to deliver structural design solutions to agreed timescales and budgets
• Carry out structural surveys of buildings and structures and providing advice on any issues that may arise.
• Analysing and reporting on structural defects and remediation if required
• Present designs and concepts to key clients and shape the direction of the project
• Oversee the production of detailed design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes
• Use of BIM tools to co-ordinate your design with other design disciplines and specialists
• Assist with assembling procurement contracts and the tender process
• Post-contract: fulfil either a novated design role working closely with the contractor or maintain client-side monitoring role throughout the works
• Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors
Your skills & Experience:
- Building structures design experience.
- Experience as a Structural Engineer on major projects.
- Design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects and using British, US and European codes of practice.
- Experience using common analysis software (including or similar to CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE) and willing to quickly learn to use new analysis packages as required.
- A Bachelor’s degree BEng / BSc or Master’s degree MEng / MSc in a relevant discipline.
- Taking active steps to progress towards Chartership and continual professional development.
