OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role is responsible for ensuring Team Leaders and operatives are actively engaged to meet high Safety, Quality and Environmental standards, as well as meeting or exceeding output targets, with high standards of quality and producing items under budget. Adhering to company policies and procedures as well as departmental goals and targets.
KEY DUTIES
SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality)
1) You are responsible for monitoring, enforcing and compliance of all aspects of Safety, Environmental and Quality whilst encouraging high standards of adherence and compliance. 2) Read and understood the Company’s SHEQ Policy and Employment Handbook.
3) Ensure your Teams areas are kept in a safe and tidy condition and items are reported outside of your control to the General Manager.
4) All sub contracts adhere to all the companies SHEQ Requirements while on site.
5) Conduct accident and near miss investigations and close out with the General Manager/Production Manager.
6) Ensure all the teams are trained adequately and have read all Risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.
7) Write Risk Assessments and SOP when needed.
Production Responsibilities
1) Organise, control, and direct the activities of team leaders and production operatives under their supervision.
2) Organise and control the work within the departments / section in accordance with the production plan and priorities as defined by the General Manager.
3) Ensure that work is completed within the allocated time and the planned customer requirement date.
4) Control and manage Indirect Hours.
5) Ensure that all material is used effectively, safely and is stored correctly within your team’s department.
6) Ensure that the job have target hours set and controlled to budget across your team.
7) Ensure that all plant, equipment, and tools within the department are maintained, working in conjunction with the Maintenance department and General/Production Manager.
HR Responsibilities
1) Control attendance and absence.
2) Resolve any conflicts within your team and help other Senior Supervisors resolve disputes in their teams.
3) Maintain discipline within the departments / section using the company policies and processes where necessary.
4) Ensure that new / transferred employees deployed within the department / section are inducted in accordance with the company procedures and are made aware of SHEQ guidance and precautions within your area of responsibility.
5) Ensure that production operatives are trained in tasks being performed within the department using the company’s training process.
6) Carry out formal disciplinary reviews, including return to work interviews and other minor disciplinary hearings
7) To Identify Training Needs with the General Manager and HR Department
8) Any other HR requirement considered necessary to manage your department / section.
Specific Key Objectives for:
- Collaborate with the Lean Practitioner to develop the continuous improvement programme within your area of responsibility
Essential Experience & Qualification (Tool for recruitment)
- IOSH Training Or Equivalent
- NVQ Level 2 Minimum Or Team Leadership Course
- Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
- Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role, demonstrating
- To conduct first line disciplinary’s
- To be able to read engineering drawings
- The ability to perform mental arithmetic for working out performance metrics.
