Job description

If you care for others without a second thought and are looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference and changes lives for the better, then a Senior Support Worker at Beech Grove could be the right choice for you.

Whether you are looking for a new career or already work in healthcare through the NHS or private care, you'll receive training to join the team where you will be valued and supported, with career development opportunities available.

If you're new to healthcare and are not sure if this role is for you, watch this video to get an insight into what the role could involve.

It's a career that you can take pride in while enjoying the satisfaction of helping people and seeing them improve. It's what delivering great healthcare should feel like.

What you will be doing

You will join the qualified and experienced team that works well together to provide care for people with complex mental health needs within our Care Home and Community Houses. Whether you have been a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, or a Care Worker, you will utilise your experience to support people to lead a valued and fulfilled life.
Working alongside the multidisciplinary team at Community Houses, you will support service users as they begin their recovery, transitioning from a hospital setting into assisted community living which focuses on developing life skills, confidence and encourages independent living.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve; being able to do something today that they couldn't do last week because of you.

There are also career development opportunities in abundance. With a huge range of courses that will see you grow and succeed. If you have the aspiration, capability, and dedication, we can give you the support and opportunities to help you achieve your career goals.

The shift patterns include working nights and every other weekend, 12 hours a day, 2 days a week (21.44 hours per week)

Duties include:

  • Assistant service users with their day-to-day activities
  • Contributing to individual recovery journeys
  • Promoting independence and empowerment
  • Writing and updating care plans
  • Promoting activities and supporting service users with in-house and community-based rehabilitation

The role in our community houses involves independent lone working, medication administration and contributing to CPA's, therefore some previous knowledge and experience is required.

You will need:

  • A true passion to work in mental health
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • A flexible approach to care
  • A willingness to learn
  • Commitment to your own development
  • Hold NVQ Level 2 or equivalent GCSE/O Levels and above
  • Previous experience in a care environment, preferably at a senior level
  • Have experience of contributing to care plans and Care Programme Approach (CPA)

Where you will be working

Location: Steeton, Sutton-In-Craven and Cowling, Yorkshire.

We provide support for adult men and women with complex mental health needs who have often been discharged from more secure environments. With 21 beds across 4 community houses and situated in the semi-rural areas of Steeton, Sutton-In-Craven and Cowling, the community houses are ideally located for safe, structured, and gradual reintegration into the community.

A driving licence is not essential for the role, but due to the location of the services, please ensure that you are able to commute. Access to your own transport would be advantageous.
