RSR are currently recruiting for aSenior Support Worker.

Our client an employee-owned company delivering services - across the employment, skills and rehabilitation sectors, is urgently seeking a Senior Support Worker to join their current team in Hastings, The job holder will perform duties as a key worker to a caseload of hub participants, from initial engagement and assessment through to exit from the programme. You will provide motivational support and guidance to participants to help sustain their engagement and provide a point of contact for the Probation Service Offender Manager. To lead and participate in hub activities, to enable participants to change their lives and make a positive contribution to their local communities.

Location: Hastings

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Work hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Salary: £24,650- £29,000 per annum starting salary

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation and provision of a welcoming and inclusive environment, in which CFO Activity Hub participants are enabled to fulfil their potential and desist from crime.
  • Undertake Key Worker responsibilities for a participant case load, including completion of the initial assessment and creation of a plan, tailored to individual need; provision of on-going motivational support and guidance to help sustain engagement; progress review, to embed learning and adjust the plan as required; and reinforcement of positive outcomes.
  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of a range of Hub Activities, designed to enable individuals to achieve positive change, reduce re-offending, overcome multiple and complex barriers to employment, access mainstream services and reintegrate into their local communities.
  • Provide information as required, to support the monitoring and tracking of performance against contract targets and to ensure activities are effective.
  • Individually and as a team member, contribute towards a learning environment in which all staff are staff are enabled to develop their skills and experience, and engage in activities to share best practice.
  • Handle personal data in accordance with the organisation’s data protection policy.
  • To undertake any other duties, as required, appropriate to the post.
  • Implement safeguarding policies and procedures within all aspects of delivery, to protect children and vulnerable adults within the hub and wider community.
  • Contribute to the development of positive stakeholder relationships, to raise awareness of the hub and its contribution to local community, promote its standing and reputation and maximise referrals.
  • Contribute to the safe and compliant delivery of the CFO Activity Hub, by understanding and complying with regulations, company policies and contractual requirements, e.g. Health & Safety and Information security.
  • Work individually and as a team member, to deliver high quality performance that meets the requirements of the CFO contract and provides tailored, effective support to participants. This includes, the quality of assessments, planning, accurate and timely recording, key working and delivery of activities.
  • Manage risk, to provide a safe environment for participants, staff, visitors and the wider community. This includes the timely notification of concerns regarding change in individual risk to the Probation Service Offender Manager and adhering to systems and procedures to manage risk that may impact on the hub’s reputation within the local community.

Person Specification:

  • Probation Practice and/or Social Work experience - desirable
  • Recent criminal justice sector operational knowledge / experience desirable
  • Good understanding of resettlement pathways, including behavioral change and desistance approaches to reducing re-offending.
  • Experience of deploying motivational strategies to develop individuals.
  • Fully IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes and digital technologies, e.g. Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to engage individuals who have experienced disadvantage and have multiple complex needs.
  • Ability to motivate and sustain the engagement of individuals, to support positive change.
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to lead multiple activities and achieve outcomes
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, to meet contractual requirements, within timescales and resource.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills, including and the ability to relate to people at all levels and in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships, including influencing and negotiating
  • Ability to seek out solutions to problems
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team, working towards a shared goal, supporting others and drawing on the strengths of each individual team member.
  • High level of initiative and motivation
  • Ability to make clear, accurate decisions and judgements, based on sound risk management.
  • Ability to research, analyse and interpret data
  • Willingness to travel for internal and external meetings, participant outreach and if necessary cover other Activity Hubs.
