The role
As a Senior System Engineer you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, As a Senior System Engineer you will be responsible for leading on the delivery and mid-life upgrade of a high profile military cross-domain data management system. The successful candidate will be responsible for, not only delivering excellence in the management of the current system, but will also support the design and delivery of the future replacement capability.
Day-to-day, you will:
Lead a technical team, devising and delivering solutions using sound technical, management, leadership and professional skills.
Provide agile technical management coordination across the project and contribute relevant technical input to all requirements, design and review sessions.
Definition and delivery of technical work plans, systems requirements, resources and tasks, working with the programme manager on schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and constraints.
Embed Systems Engineering methodology and best practise in programme technical delivery.
Proactively contribute to the development of the secure networks, information management and Systems Engineering professional communities.
Deliver design documentation and reports, ensuring that the technical solution meets appropriate security, information and engineering standards.
Engage and manage diverse internal and external stakeholder communities.
Working within a large multi-functional team of Systems, Software and Networks engineers.
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, and base fully on-site at our Farnborough offices.
Essential experience of the Senior System Engineer
Ability to apply Systems Engineering approach throughout the technical delivery lifecycle.
Have experience in the design, development and verification/validation of secure IT systems.
Experience of cross-security domain information systems.
Understanding of Microsoft Server, Linux and Virtualisation applications.
Understanding of networking, including routing and firewalls.
Knowledge of information, data and message flows.
Able to articulate the technical scope of the project to stakeholders, with strong communication skills.
Experience of maintaining and review technical documents and contributing to reports.
Efficient management of people, resources and workflow.
Understanding of protective monitoring systems.
