What you will be doing
Job Purpose:
You will lead and support Transport Optimisation Specialists through an on-going programme of route optimisation activity across the AHDL / Cencora transport network. Using transport planning and scenario modelling software to plan transport routes for the UK AHDL / Cencora transport network, you will seek out efficiency opportunities across all the AHDL / Cencora transport network.
You will execute constant reviews of the routes to ensure they are delivering maximum service in the most efficient way. You will work closely with the Transport Optimisation Manager to ensure alignment on plans and priorities.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Lead and Support Transport Optimisation Specialists, mentoring in route optimisation techniques
2.Maintaining high levels of service and efficiency by carrying out route review activity in accordance with the optimisation plan, ensuring customer constraints and company operational standards are adhered too.
3.Upon above, you must ensure all changes comply with drivers’ hours legislation.
4.Work closely with the local transport managers to drive efficiencies across the transport operations promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Support the local teams during implementation of new routing solution to ensure any issues are resolved in the moment and built into the final solution
5.Undertake routine analysis of current transport operations to understand current position vs. budget MOM (Transport Ops Model)
6.Support the Transport Optimisation Manager in delivering strategic initiatives and Project work.
Key Dimensions:
This role will work towards the delivery of yearly planned Route reviews within the AHDL Van and HGV Networks with cost and legal controls in place.
Key Working Relationships:
Internal: Operations, CTO and Commercial teams
External: Boots, Software providers, Key customer groups
Additional Information:
Some National travel required, with occasional overnight stays
All staff are expected to understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 343/01) which is reflected in our SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1. It will be a requirement for all staff to be trained in this SOP and have a periodic refresher. All other GDP training will be job specific and as per your personal training matrix.

What your background should look like
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required:
  • Good presentation & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a climate of continuous change.
  • Ability to work within a service-led environment and culture.
  • Good commercial and financial awareness
  • Experience of creating and managing route optimisation processes
Essential Requirements:
  • Experienced transport planner
  • Experience using route planning software such as Paragon, Truckstops, Dips etc.
  • Numerate and strong computer skills, with the ability to use, interpret and produce detailed spread sheet information.
  • Ability to coach team members
  • Advanced systems applications experience; Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Full driving license
