Our client is a leading UK and international law firm which provides high quality legal advice tailored to both businesses and individuals. They have several offices across the UK in the London, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Cambridge, Guildford, Oxford and Reading while their overseas network stretches from Asia to Europe.
With 130 partners and over 880 people in total, their main areas of practice are dispute resolution, corporate and commercial, real estate, private client, and family.
They are now looking for a Senior Trusts and Tax Manager to join the firms Guildford office.
Responsibilities
- To undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the division.
- To contribute to the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan and firms commonality of purpose.
- To deliver a high quality commercial legal service ensuring personal compliance with quality standards and professional ethics.
- Provide direct assistance to the Trust and Tax Director and Tax/accountancy support to the wider Private Client team.
- Lead on client relationships, progressing matters to successful conclusion.
- Liaise with clients, intermediaries, and Tax authorities in a clear and relevant manner.
- Identify and advising on tax-planning opportunities for clients.
- Supervision and preparation of:
- Trust and estate accounts
- Company and personal, estate and trust tax computations
- HM Revenue & Customs forms associated
- Various accounting reports for UK and overseas tax compliance matters
- Assist in overseeing the team’s caseload of individuals, Trusts and estates.
- Preparation of tax forms including SA100, SA900, IHT100, CT600
- Preparing CGT calculations
- Preparing trust accounts
- Preparing estate accounts
- Preparing 60 day CGT submissions
- Preparing non-resident trust tax pool calculations
- Assist and provide tax advice to clients of the firm
- Support in business development opportunities for the team
- Support development of Trainee Tax and Accounts Manager.
Candidate Profile
- Enthusiastic and motivated to learn at a fast pace, with the desire to further increase knowledge and progress to leadership positions.
- A strong team orientation, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the teams strategic aims.
- Competent user of business information systems and in particular advanced user of MS Excel.
- Must have completed ATT qualification, along with having specialist knowledge of relevant area of law.
- Expected to have completed or begun CTA qualification
- Receptive to facilitate and support change
- Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work; appreciation of fee earner needs and constraints; commercially aware
- Achieve the competencies for an Associate level member of the team.
