Position Description
We are looking for Senior User Researchers, to work on major new engagements in our Central Government Business unit, helping our clients develop class leading user centred design solutions. As these are hybrid roles, you may be required to work on a client site for a day from time to time (Manchester, Bristol, London) for client workshops and events. In the longer term there may be a requirement for on-site work to increase but the majority of work will still be remote. All applicants must also hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) level.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Senior User Researcher youll be working on i=one of our prestigious UK Government programmes, planning, designing, and carrying out research activities with users. Youll be helping to get a deep understanding of the people that use government services using several methods including quantitative and qualitative research.
Youll be working throughout the delivery lifecycle process. This may be a key role at the start of a discovery for a complex project or working closely with a live services team to support optimisation of multiple digital services running experiments with the team to address pain points and improve completion rates and user satisfaction scores.
Woking closely with the Product Manager and Designers youll be responsible for:
Creation of the User Research plans and ethics brief.
Conducting regular user research sessions using a variety of research methods and approved tools and in-line with government service standards.
Identifying trends and pain points in existing customer journey for the existing and proposed services.
Ensuring research is inclusive of assisted digital and more complex user groups.
Analysing research findings to create service personas and empathy maps.
Representing the service (for a UR perspective) at government service assessments creating strong artefacts which demonstrate how the service being developed can meet user needs, is inclusive and solves the whole problem for users.
Working closely with the product owner and digital development team to champion the needs of the users and actively contribute to feature/backlog prioritisation.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
As a Senior User Researcher in this role you will need to ideally have a good understanding and practical hands-on experience, of working with the UK Government Service Standards and the development of Front Facing Digital Services ideally with reference to Accessibility Standards.
Youll also need to demonstrate your skills and experience in the following:
Analysis and synthesis -be able to apply basic techniques for analysis of research data and synthesis of findings. Know how to involve your team in analysis and synthesis and present clear findings that colleagues can understand and use.
Inclusive research understand the diversity of users of government services and the need to make services usable and accessible for everyone.
Research skills - understand and have experience of basic user research methods, when to use apply them correctly.
Society and technology - understand the social and technological context for government services and can align user research activities to help your team understand changing user behaviour.
User centred and agile practices - understand and have experience of a range of user-centred practices and experience of working with colleagues to plan and do continuous user research in a multidisciplinary team.
