Senior UX Designer - Edinburgh - 6 Month Contract
Lorien's Public Sector client are currently recruiting for a Senior UX Designer to join on a 6 month initial contract, outside IR35.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/knowledge:
- Expert design acumen demonstrated through owning service/product design end-to-end
- Proven understanding of collaborative, user-centred design methods
- Ability to work collaboratively, synthesising insights from user research, business and technical analysis to inform and improve your designs
- Ability to collaborate with engineering team to ensure designs are realised in final solutions in the most effective way
- Strong focus on usability & accessibility to ensure the end service/product meets the end users' needs and meets industry standards
- Good working knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- Reviewing existing systems and processes to identify UX issues and develop UX recommendations
- Ability to create high quality UX deliverables which deliver on service/product objectives, including:
- Assisting in developing personas and user journey maps
- Designing & running co-design workshops
- Creating user interface designs and interactive prototypes, choosing the most appropriate fidelity
- Designing information architecture
- Designing content to support successful user journeys
- Experience of leading a team, mentoring colleagues and supporting with professional development
- Experience of establishing and growing a UX practise in a large-scale organisation, implementing processes and ways of working to embed UX design as a core discipline
- Awareness of Digital Scotland Service Standard, Government Digital Services (GDS) and the Scottish Approach to Service Design
- Experience of using existing public sector patterns and components to build consistency
Desirable:
- Experience of successfully completing a GDS or Digital Scotland Service Standard assessment
- Practical experience of ensuring designs are inclusive and accessible, complying with WCAG
