Senior Welfare Benefits Advisor

Prospectus is delighted to have partnered with a busy and well-established advice centre in North London, in their search for a Welfare Benefits Advisor. Paperweight is a fast-growing volunteer-led charity providing free specialist help to those in the Jewish community struggling with administrative, financial and welfare issues. It is important to note that compassion and empathy is at the very core of everything they do, the heart of the organisation is top of the list, and they are especially looking for an advisor with these qualities to join them.

Working alongside a dynamic and dedicated team, you will hand-hold clients along the entire journey of their benefit application, handling Welfare Benefits cases, including helping to prepare mandatory reconsideration requests and tribunal appeals. You will build strong relationships with other organisations, the local authorities and other agencies through meetings and events. You will also attend on-going training as it’s crucial to stay informed about current political and economic drivers of social injustice and changes in legislation that affect the clients that Paperweight works with.

Ideal candidates will have experience in welfare rights, ideally with a proven track record of successful client outcomes at appeals tribunals. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, sympathy, empathy and a non-judgemental outlook are essential for working with clients, and knowledge of key issues causing economic injustice and hardship is highly desirable.

This in an exciting full time, although Paperweight may consider a candidate looking to work 4 days a week. The position is mainly office-based with the opportunity to work from home for a maximum of 2 days a week.
