A Policy Advisor is required to advise on legal policy matters for cases, processes, and emerging issues. You will provide policy input to the development and operation of the Project; ensuring that the policy develops to meet the organisation’s needs, is well understood, coordinated across Whitehall and is correctly applied by the team.
Key accountabilities:
- Analyse a broad range of complex inputs and preparation of clear advice to prepare ministerial, legal and senior advice and briefings as per the strategic, operational and legal direction required
- Engage with the rest of the policy team, the Senior Leadership team, including the relevant Deputy-Directors, so they are aware of issues and can provide senior input to decision-making
- Identify pertinent information from case working and eligibility files to clearly articulate how and why decisions were made regarding a case and across wider cohorts
- Ensure good information management practices
- Produce briefings for current issues such as high profile individual cases
Key requirements:
- Law degree
- Experienced in document redaction
- Civil litigation – disclosure & redaction
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Policy or secretariat work within HMG
