Service Engineer
Locations: Heathrow – Gatwick – Southampton (occasionally)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Overview of Role:
As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, service, and support of cutting-edge X-ray screening systems. The primary focus will be on supporting all X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace product lines in the Southern areas, predominantly at Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted airports, with occasional assignments in other locations throughout the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, commissioning, and service support for X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace systems at customer premises in EMEA and International locations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on-site at customer premises in EMEA.
- Conduct service site surveys before installations and produce professional site reports.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance works, and respond to callouts.
- Provide remote technical support to Distributors' engineers and customers.
- Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting MS Windows-based servers and workstations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of high-end X-ray systems or computed tomography is a major advantage.
- Experience in programming PLCs is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a field Service Engineer role is a must.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.
- Strong aptitude for learning.
- Essential ability to obtain airport security passes (some requiring a Criminal Record check).
- Electrical Diploma with at least 4-5 years of field experience OR a BSc Eng with 2-3 years of field experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in Electrical engineering desirable.
- Good general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, electronics, or complex electro-mechanical equipment or systems.
- Alternatively, knowledge of HV Systems in the Medical or Industrial engineering discipline is beneficial.
