Job overview
A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Secure and Forensic CDS as the Service Manager for the Forensic Outreach Liaison Service (FOLS).
This will be an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with good management and service development experience to join the CDS leadership team.
You will be responsible for a growing team operating across the Sussex Community and be linked in with the Provider Collaborative Secure Care Forensic Community Network across KSS. The team delivers specialist interventions and risk assessments, and establishes safe onward care and treatment pathways for those leaving secure care into the community. The team also offer a Risk Advise Forum. The FOLS team is multi-disciplinary and the team have a positive supervision and appraisal culture, and values staff training and development.
Main duties of the job
Supported by the General Manager for Forensic Community Services and the wider CDS leadership, you will ensure consistent, safe service delivery across the multiple sites in Sussex that the team serves.
You will foster transparent governance through: use of data; clear appraisal and supervision structures; incident reporting and investigations; complaint investigations; and clinical audit.
You will foster and develop positive relationships with: Secure Care Provider Collaborative, partner agencies and a range of Local Authority, third sector, and SPFT services, including wider community, inpatient, and crisis/urgent care services.
You will contribute to developing the operational and strategic direction of the service, and will be responsible for driving change to embrace new opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work effectively leading a multi-disciplinary team holding yourself and others to account for demonstrably high quality integrated (professional/managerial) leadership.
To report on and achieve an agreed set of health care performance targets.
To drive service improvement and change using research, audit, and QI
To provide services within the agreed financial resources and achieve all financial targets, including cost efficiency savings ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness
To contribute to the planning and delivery of service objectives, managing specific change projects as required, ensuring collaborative practice and focus, consistency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
To respond to serious incidents, complaints and communications, ensuring timely and thorough investigation, effective communication of recommendations and closely monitoring actions to ensure they are fully implemented. To sit on MARAC panel.
Identify risk and take corrective action in line with trusts integrated governance framework
To promote and display via personal actions support for the Trust's key policies on equality and diversity,
KEY CRITERIA:
Relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
Post graduate clinical / management qualification (or equivalent level of experience) and proven ability to perform at this level
Experience of and demonstrable achievement in managing health/social care services

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of and demonstrable achievement in managing health/social care services
  • Management of resources and good track record with change management, efficiency savings and financial recovery plans
  • Experience of modernising services without additional resources.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services.
  • Experience of project management and imaginative planning.
  • Experience of managing a diverse practitioner team (multi site).
  • Measurable track record in involving and motivating staff to improve performance

Skills
Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the key drivers behind Care group Policy
  • Ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information with staff, service users, carers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to present information clearly.
  • An open and facilitative style of leadership which can be adapted when necessary to ensure delivery of objectives
  • Able to hold professionals and peers to account
  • An understanding of effective systems for integrated governance and the management of clinical and non- clinical risks.
  • Good project management skills and the ability to see through tasks to their successful conclusion within timescales and budgets
  • Good performance management skills combining clarity around expectations, direction and holding others to account.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret performance and financial information, excellent numerical and presentational skills.
