Our client based in East London is looking for a Service Manager for their Private Sector Housing Team to support the Head of Service in the review and development of all private sector housing functions to ensure that the service improves the quality, safety, and choice of residential accommodation in Barking and Dagenham.
The post will set out the strategy, and drive and manage the service to deliver the aims through management of property licensing and effective regulation and application of the range of legislative powers.
The post will ensure governance arrangements are adhered to in respect of licensing of rented properties and enforcement action against criminal landlords, in accordance with proper governance principles.
Essential:
Holds a BSc Environmental Health or a relevant Housing qualification.
Able to demonstrate key competencies in investigative skills, Comprehensive knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, Crime & Disorder Act 1998, and Environmental Health legislation.
Extensive knowledge of local authorities licensing and enforcement powers in accordance with the Housing Act 2004.
Proven experience of effectively managing and directing a team responsible for enforcing standards within private sector housing.
Experience of case management, case progression and being in a position to sign off legal case files in accordance with law and governance arrangements.
Proven experience of developing and maintaining multi agency relationships and partnerships relationships to benefit the Client.
Demonstrate the ability to manage and lead on multiple projects, communicating objective outcomes in meetings, reports, and across stakeholder meetings both internally of the organisation (for example MHCLG, LGA).
