Job description

If this sounds like you then you could make a real difference to our West Sussex residents and support the financial affairs of vulnerable people who lack the capacity to manage their own finances and are vulnerable to financial exploitation.

The Opportunity

Salary: £25,119 to £26,421 per annum

Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week

Location: Parkside, Horsham (County Hall North) and hybrid working from home

Interview date: w/c 15 April

As a Set Up Officer, you will be part of the Financial Adults Safeguarding Team, responsible for the process of applying for deputyship, and therefore ensuring that applications are progressed in a timely manner, and for opening and closing deputyship bank accounts.

You will be accountable for locating appropriate next of kin or executor of will, and the collation and forwarding of all paperwork pertaining to a deceased customer's estate. The role must adhere to court of protection and bereavement legislation at all times.

What are we looking for?

  • You will be liaising with the team banking provider and genealogists, and will need to demonstrate effective negotiating and relationship building skills.
  • You'll also be communicating regularly with the general public, including bereaved relatives, where a degree of sensitivity will be required.
  • The role will also involve applying for Appointeeship, where appropriate, so the ability to problem solve and analyse a case to determine the best course of action will be essential.
