Our client are looking for a Shift Leader to join their heavy industrial manufacturing site based in Trafford Park, reporting to the Production Manager.
The shift Lead will coordinate, lead and control the shift to ensure scheduled out put is achieved safely, on time to agreed quality standards. Ensuring all staff adhere to a right first time approach to all work undertaken within their area. This role will be the operations single point of contact when on a late or night shift.
Key activities:
- Manage tier 2 meetings when on late or night shifts
- Managing 30-40 staff on days and upto 20 staff on nights
- Ensure all production operatives are engaged and utilised at all times, actively flex manning across the area to drive production.
- Identifying training needs in the area to ensure the team can carry out critical activities which enable business objectives to be met.
- Assist in accident and non conformity investigations relating to both HSE and quality, including the compiling of reports with suggested closure actions
- Monitor and manage data input for for shift performance
- Undertake return to work interviews as required, highlighting repeat issues to to production coordinators
- Liaise with Production Coordinators, Engineering and Quality teams to drive for a prompt resolution to all product based queries.
- Provide feedback to Production Coordinators and management on shift activity, by maintaining departmental KPIs' and communicating targets vs actual.
- Actively participate in the companies 5S program by carrying out audits and driing a safety culture
- Work closely with maintenance, production coordinators and management to ensure equipment breakdowns are reported and rectified promptly.
Knowledge and skills:
- A good level of understanding of products and manufacturing processes
- Intermediate knowledge of Office 365 and ERP
- Ability to interpret manufacturing documents e.g. route cards
- Good level of health, safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Supervisory experience/ training
