We are currently recruiting for a Shift Manager to join our growing and busy client. You will be responsible for the efficiency of your team over the course of your shift ensuring targets are achieved. A large part of this job role is also to ensure all staff comply to health and safety measures as well as continuously reviewing ways of working, identifying improvements, and implementing these within the team. Working within a management role you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the team, and dealing with any obstacles as they arise. This role would be well suited to a motivated individual with strong initiative and drive to reach high aspirations.
This role is 40hrs per week working Monday to Friday 13:30 to 22:00.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and investigate issues and ensure deliveries are completed within the set timeframe, including transport and warehouse related incidents.
- Oversee the resource management of agency staff and ensure they are inducted in line with volume increases.
- Deal with customer complaints swiftly and effectively.
- Ensure all vehicles are DVSA guidelines via servicing and tyre checks, completing vehicle checks a week in line with organisations guidelines.
- Ensure all documentation is ready for the delivery team and in accordance with legislation.
- Oversee the documentation of all drivers in accordance with legislation e.g. Drivers licenses, Digi-Tachos.
- Monitor and report on the day-to-day operational performance and motivate teams to hit daily targets.
- Plan training to meet the needs of transport/warehouse operatives alongside appraisals, in accordance with the organisation’s requirements.
- Maintain a strong communicative relationship with HR, completing investigation meetings as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining credibility and authenticity with the team.
- Able to work independently with strong initiative as well as working collaboratively to complete collective goals and targets.
- Strong time management and the ability to effectively prioritise and delegate roles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills that can be used in a variety of situations.
- Proven experience managing teams within a busy operations environment.
- Knowledge of developing and motivating teams to reach collective targets.
- Good understanding of transport logistics and relative legislation
- Knowledge of health and safety and relative legislation regarding warehouse/transport workplaces
