The Role
Were looking for a Shift Technician to join our growingteam! You will be responsible for operating our Spalding Power Station safelyand efficiently by performing routine testing, monitoring the plant activities,and carrying out any required maintenance to help us ensure that the plant is reliable,and availability is always maximised.

Role Summary
- Operation and supervision of the powergeneration process from a central control room, including internal and externalplant operations & checks and predictive & preventive monitoring tasks,
- Carry out various operational processes toensure that the plant is fully prepared for return to service followingmaintenance, outage or other shutdown period
- Carry out routine on-load and off-load testingof plant and apparatus to ensure that safety critical protective systems andstand-by systems are fully functional and ready for operation,
- Achievement of full Safety Controllerauthorisation and upgrading to Shift Team Leader is a requirement of thisposition.
- Undertake and complete training to enact theduties of Acceptor, Issuer and Appointed Person roles (including HV apparatusoperation & switching up to 400kV) under the InterGen Safety Rules.
- Carry out analysis of water / steam cycle andenvironmental chemistry and implement corrective actions
- Reviewing, writing, and amending procedures.Updating site drawings and plant labelling. Implementing changes andimprovements as required, to ensure all procedures, drawings and labels areaccurate,
- Use of Maintenance Management System for qualitydefect reporting and to record the completion of operational, maintenance andHSE/compliance tasks,
- Performing emergency response duties whilstsupporting the Shift Team Leader and management teams
- Full participation in all availability andreliability programmes whilst taking ownership of individual actions to driveeffective improvements.
Why you?
As our next Shift Technician, you will need to have aminimum of 3 years expertise in heavy industrial power generation plantequipment, such as gas and steam turbines and high-pressure boilers. You musthave previous experience with the systems and processes including the balanceof plant systems and distributed control systems (DCS). Having a solid grasp ofindustry safety regulations is essential. You will be a great communicator,have strong interpersonal skills and have proficient I.T abilities. Education/Experience
- Equivalent of HND in an industry-relevantdiscipline with a high level of suitable knowledge & experience, (qualificationsbelow this may be acceptable if evidenced by suitable experience)
- Safety related qualifications, e.g. IOSH orNEBOSH certificate
