A fantastic opportunity has now arisen for a Maintenance Manager to join our Shop Maintenance Team on a permanent full-time basis. Our team is 90+ strong and made up of internal engineers, resource planners and operational managers and this role is one of the key line management roles within that team, reporting into the National Maintenance Manager.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Scotland or The North East of England, Ideally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area

What you’ll do

Reporting to the National Maintenance Manager, the purpose of the role is to manage the maintenance and repair of a defined group of shops and the equipment and fabric of the buildings they occupy, within budget and to the agreed standards and procedures, including responsibility for managing and controlling a dedicated number of engineer team leaders and engineers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee, review and prioritise where needed on a daily basis all new and outstanding breakdown repairs to ensure agreed SLA’s are achieved.
  • Support the allocation of work to in-house engineers or external contractors as appropriate and monitor SLA, quality, timescale and cost.
  • Plan and carry out annual inspections in agreed format for a defined group of shop premises
  • Oversee and manage major planned maintenance works.
  • Oversee and manage minor alteration and improvement works to shop premises as requested.
  • Ensure equipment asset information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Monitor equipment repair costs using Aeromark and SAP finance system.
  • Implement agreed procedures for recovery and redistribution of Shop Equipment
  • Manage a regional field engineer team to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained over holiday periods.
  • Oversee the engineers rota system to ensure appropriate cover is maintained.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and encourage the regional maintenance team in line with company values.
  • Promote a customer focused culture within a regional maintenance team
  • Carry out PDRs with direct reports, agree targets and objectives and conduct monthly 1 to 1’s.
  • Facilitate meetings within own regional and across the wider maintenance team.
  • Agree individual development plans with direct reports and monitor progress.
  • Provide coaching and arrange training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Manage performance issues with staff in line with company policy.
  • Use disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policy.
  • Encourage good team morale and promote a positive working environment.
  • Ensure staff complete necessary training in line with company policy and business plan.
  • Regularly update the National maintenance operations manager on key issues affecting their regional team.
  • Participate with recruitment planning and procedures as required.

  • Track record of delivering value and continuous improvement
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite
