Location: Penzance

Contract Type: Part-Time (5:30am-8:45am & 16:30pm-19:30pm)

Salary: GBP12 per hour

Start Date: February 2024

Site managers or caretakers play a vital role in schools being responsible for the maintenance and security of school buildings. They often take over the management of frontline caretaking, cleaning and security.

You will need to be contactable outside of school hours.

School maintenance:

Inspect outside fabric of school, all gates, fences, wall steps, lights, etc. Regularly inspect the condition of the fabric of the building, including all the plumbing installations. Report/repair defects as necessary.

Liaise with the Manager on the rolling programme of premises maintenance works and undertake minor repairs.

Arranging necessary repairs (once approved) ensuring contractors and repairs meet Local Authority criteria

Ensure that equipment subject to a maintenance contract is serviced in line with the terms and conditions of the contract.

Check and control heating system functions & ensure satisfactory temperature is maintained in the premises

Liaise with Finance Manager to order materials and supplies. Ensure stored appropriately and ensure that an adequate supply of all hygiene materials is always available.

Energy Conservation:

To assist with energy conservation within the premises to ensure good practices are always adopted.

To read, record, analyse and report monthly all services meters e.g., solar panels.

Cleaning:

To organise, supervise and direct duties of cleaning staff and ensure that the school is always kept clean and presentable.

Maintain cleaning material stock levels, ordering and receipt of supplies.

Other duties:

To carry out a monthly Health and Safety Audit with the Manager and to be responsible for maintaining all School Risk Assessments alongside the Manager relating to the school building and grounds.

To ensure all contractors sign and follow the requirements of the asbestos policy.
