Site Manager / Depot Operations Manager, Salary: up to £60k excellent benefits and career opportunities, Based; Wakefield
We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager / Depot Operations Manager to join the market leading provider of Portable cabins, Secure Storage Solutions, Modular buildings and associated products. The depot operation stores and prepares the units ready for hire or sale, refurbishing and modifying as required. Candidates will need to have proven management experience with a track record of delivering on targets, quality, process (lean and continuous improvement) and H&S within in a relevant environment e.g manufacturing / engineering / logistics.
The role: To manage, lead, mentor and motivate an operational team of direct reports to deliver internal and external customer expectations in line with company EH&S and quality guidelines whilst controlling costs (materials, subcontractors, transport impact etc).
- Responsible for maximising fleet utilisation with high quality workmanship, focusing on exceeding customer expectations.
- Ensure all customer deliveries are met with the target of 100% on time.
- Maintain control over depot procurement (materials, stock, PPE etc).
- Maintain current business processes and systems, continually improve procedures to maximise operating efficiency
- Review local performance data (financial, sales and activity reports) to deliver and measure operational productivity, depot performance and contribution levels.
- Responsible for the achievement of operational productivity, quality and ‘Lean’ targets.
- Responsible for Asset Management, availability and sourcing, query resolution, vehicle (service and FLT) preventative maintenance.
- Manage costs of labour and materials, utilising temporary labour and subcontracts to overcome peak periods to ensure delivery.
- Responsible for all health and safety and maintenance of the site.
- Provide clear objectives for employees in terms of daily activity, weekly monthly and annual goals.
- Monitor staff performance through appraisals, performance reviews, setting personal development plans in order to develop staff and maximise talent potential.
- Responsible for HR issues including discipline, absence, capability & performance management.
Candidate requirements:
- Experience in a Site Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar role from within Manufacturing, Engineering or Logistics.
- Demonstrable experience in building and leading a team
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of Lean fundamentals
- Experience of managing Health and Safety
- Experience of delivering results against operational, service, quality, safety and cost targets
- Ability to set standards for quality and ensure it is adhered to
- Experience in managing and controlling costs
- Experience of using workflow planning systems and MS Office packages
- Has a full driving licence.
