Watkin Jones, the UK's leading developer and manager of residential for rent are looking to appoint a Site Manager for our 260 bed Purpose Built Student accommodation site in Bristol. Once complete the project will deliver 260 high-quality, purpose-built student beds, with ancillary spaces and 237 sqm of commercial space. This will be arranged within a single building, over 5 and 6 storeys, finished in brick and aluminium. The site is located at the corner of Gas Lane and Freestone Road, within the Bristol Central Area and the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.
As a Site Manger you will be responsible for helping to ensure the project is completed to the highest possible standard, on time, safely and profitably, resulting in satisfied clients. To apply for this role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate extensive experience with reinforced concrete frames and brickwork package management as you'll be responsible for managing the build, ensuring that company standards and procedures are adhered to at all times. Working closely with the Construction Manager, the post holder will monitor the construction working programme, reviewing the development's drawings and being aware of forecast costs and budgets in order to minimise waste and maximise value. The Site Manager will be responsible for monitoring plant equipment costs and preliminaries to include the setup, cost of plant and office on a weekly basis and manage the sub-contractors, labour, plant and materials, issuing requisitions as required.
About You
Façade experience is preferred, however it's more important that along with the relevant skills and experience you have the right aptitude with a drive for success. We’re looking for an individual who is educated to NVQ Level 3, ‘A’ Level or HNC standard in a relevant discipline or who has the equivalent experience. With good communication skills and a technical aptitude, you need to possess a SMSTS certificate, First Aid certificate and hold a valid CSCS card.
We’d like you to have experience of working with high rise buildings, student accommodation or BTR and you need to be capable working in an extremely fast paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel are a must, as are strong management and leadership capabilities.
You must be able to display knowledge of working with subcontractors, managing a team and previous experience operating as a Site Manager as well as a good standard and experience of Health and Safety.
