We are currently recruiting for an experiencedSite Manager (Quarry) to join and lead our friendly operations team at our Tarmac Torcoed Quarry in Porthyrhyd near Carmarthen, South Wales. As well as Porthyrhyd and Carmarthen this site is accessible from Llanelli, Gorslas, Ammanford, Gorseinon, Swansea, Morriston, Neath, Ystradgynlais, Port Talbot, Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn, St Clears and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of Site Manager (Quarry) is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires an experienced Site Manager to be responsible for all Operations on site.

The role of Site Manager (Quarry) will have full responsibility for:

  • Leading and managing all Tarmac and contractor personnel working on site, with safety as the key priority
  • Maintaining site maintenance systems to ensure maximum productivity
  • Maintaining stocks to a high level
  • Developing plans to reduce waste
  • Maintaining site P&L within budget and forecast monthly spend
  • Project management of projects within the quarry within agreed timescales and budget
  • Applying all relevant Environmental legislation – EMS, EMAS and any additional requirements under PPC
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and maintain the site health and safety documents ensuring that all inspections/calibrations/audits are kept up to date and actioned
  • Ensuring that all work undertaken on site is planned and Managed Safely
  • Ensuring that all accidents and incidents are reported, and fully investigated and corrective action taken as necessary
  • Developing training plans for all site employees
  • Ensuring good public relations are developed and maintained and all complaints fully investigated through open communication with all stakeholders and the local community

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Site Manager (Quarry) will be able to demonstrate proven experience of working within a similar working environment.

Suitable candidates for the role of Site Manager (Quarry) will have:

  • Experience working at a similar level gained within the quarrying sector
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments and developing safe working procedures
  • Proven experience managing teams, staff development and managing projects
  • Effective budgeting and cost control skills
  • Experience building successful relationships with internal / external stakeholders
  • SHE NVQ level 4 in Health Safety
  • Minerals Extractive foundation degree
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Wamitab or working towards
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt or working towards
