About this Role:
Experienced / ambitious Site Manager required to work with this specialist developer / contractor to lead the construction on site of a 15m new build student accommodation project in central Southampton.
Reporting to a mainly site-based Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the site, with main works commencing in January.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing trade sub-contractors and all site-based construction activities, including short-term programming of works, health and safety, review of method statements, risk assessments, call off of materials, logistics, quality control, internal client liaison, coordination meetings, reporting on progress against program, etc, snagging and handover.
This project is in the tail end demolition phase, so your focus will be on managing the groundworks and drainage initially, RC slab, installation of the volumetric modules, cladding and roofing, plus internal fit out of communal areas through finishing to phased handovers towards the end of the year. It is a fast track programme to achieve the October 2024 student intake.

The contractor is a busy Hampshire based developer / contractor with 30m+ annual turnover, and a proven track record in the delivery of small to medium sized city centre student accommodation schemes; They have a follow on scheme also in the city centre due to start later next year and several others planned in the Southampton, Bournemouth, Winchester and Portsmouth areas,
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, proactive, demonstrating good technical, organisational, man-management and communication skills. A proven track record of work for another regional or national main contractor in the region would be advantageous., as would some previous experience of student accommodation and / or modular construction.
Ideally from a trades, engineering or construction management background with previous experience of managing multiple trades on site, with a sharp eye for detail, etc. You will possess strong planning and problem-solving ability, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach.

You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role.
