The aim of Social Work Resources is to promote social welfare and provide effective care and support to meet the needs of vulnerable people in South Lanarkshire.

In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services.

South Lanarkshire Health & Social Care Partnership are looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker for an exciting opportunity to work within the Community Addiction Recovery Services (CAReS) in Brandon Gate, Hamilton Locality in South Lanarkshire and also in Clydesdale Local Office. CAReS are an integrated multi-disciplinary service, bringing together Social Workers, Substance Misuse Workers, Nurses and Occupational Therapists together to work with, and support the recovery of, people who use substances.

You will work as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting individuals on their journey of recovery. You will provide an effective assessment and case management service incorporating statutory duties. You will assess the needs of service users and their families and deliver appropriate evidence based interventions to support those needs. You will ensure that public protection thresholds are assessed and work specifically with child or adult protection cases within the CAReS team. Additionally, you should have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to complete all formal and informal reports, and casenotes, all of which need to be of a high standard. You should be able to deal with a variety of situations where your tact, patience and understanding will be needed, and you will cope with these situations in a sensitive and non-judgmental way. You will be committed to working closely with the CAReS Team Leader and contribute to the integration of NHS Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Council’s alcohol and drug services.

The successful candidate must hold a degree level qualification in Social Work and be registered with an appropriate professional body. The successful candidate must also have post-qualifying experience in a statutory Social Work setting. Direct experience of working with this service user group is also a requirement of this post.
