Social Care Worker
20.34 hours per week on a shift rota, including weekends

£31,942 - £32,642 / £33,448 - £35,910 pro rata
£16.56 - £16.92 / £17.34 - £18.61 per hour
The above amounts include Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance
The Short Breaks and Supported Living Network services provide a wide range of high quality support services for adults who have Learning Disabilities and their families. This includes supporting adults in their own homes in the community and a Short Breaks (Respite) Service. This post is predominantly based in a property within the Supported Living Network Service while providing a supporting role across all parts of the service as required.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Short Breaks and Supported Living Network Services. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach including maximising and maintaining their independence and accessing community facilities. You should have sound knowledge of the principles of social inclusion.
You must be able to evidence a commitment to the care of adults with Learning Disabilities and have experience in the field of support needs. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of professionalism and you should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have Learning Disabilities and/or additional support needs. You will be required to perform the Key Worker role and offer support across the service. You are required to be familiar with the standards of care required to meet the Health and Social Care Standards and Care Inspectorate.
To be appointed at grade E
You should hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care AND achieve an SVQ3 or HNC in Social Services and Health Care within 5 years of appointment.
To be appointed at grade F
You should hold SVQ3 or HNC Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC.
Registration must take place within six months of appointment, but the SSSC generally allow up to 5 years to gain required qualifications. You will be provided with regular supervision and training opportunities to enhance your existing skills.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
