About The Service
Cardiff benefits from being the capital city of Wales, offering SOCIAL WORKERs the opportunity to work with a highly diverse population with a variety of care and support needs. As the largest local authority in Wales we support nearly 5000 individuals to live well, offering them a person-centred support structure to ensure they can meet their own needs and outcomes. The Learning Disabilities teams provide social work advice, information, and support services to adults with Learning Disabilities and their carers, working closely with wider multi-disciplinary teams to support ongoing complex needs. Our strength-based approach ensures that we focus on supporting people to access local activities and integrate into their communities. We have two social work teams who offer information, support and assistance to people and their carers. There are opportunities for our staff to work with people with a wide spectrum of needs and specialise in an area of interest if they wish, such as transitions or dual diagnosis. We also have a Day Opportunities team for those individuals who have highly complex behavioural or health needs. The service is community based and focused on developing skills and ensuring least restrictive practice. We also offer 112 local supported housing schemes to support people to live independently whilst remaining local and living near family and friends. We are looking for: • Enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability and their families • A strong value base and willingness to actively work with a strength based social work at the heart of your practice • Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities • A willingness to learn commitment to excellent practice • A willingness to learn and develop assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 • A commitment to developing confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework. We will help you to gain experience of Court of Protection work and process • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area

This job is a 18.5 hours per week part time post. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cardiff’s Adult Services Social Work Team. What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for qualified Social Workers early into your career and looking to gain further experience within Cardiff Council. As the successful candidate you will be able to work independently and manage your time. You will be able to show you have excellent skills in assessment and the ability to write concise records and reports. You will be a good team player, have excellent communication, organisation skills and IT skills. A degree in Social Work and registration with Social Care Wales are essential for this role. You will be supported by an experienced SOCIAL WORKER who will offer mentorship and guidance on your cases and will support your career development within the team. You will have a strong and demonstrable commitment to strength-based approaches, a dedication to working in an outcome-focussed way and a keen interest in your on-going professional development, striving for excellence. You will be committed to working in a way that promotes equality and inclusion for all our citizens. A degree in Social Work or equivalent Social Work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales are essential for this role. Additional information
This post is part time and will work 18.5 hours per week. This role currently attracts a market supplement of £3,000 (full time equivalent), reviewed annually. This post has a requirement for registration with Social Care Wales. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
