As a Social Worker, you will be providing support for forensic patients detained under the Mental Health Act. You will be taking a lead role within the multi-disciplinary teams for child and adult safeguarding and liaising with a host of external agencies to enable them to fulfil their statutory duties, for example: MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation.
You will be working at Thornford Park, a 130 bedded independent hospital which supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing support for forensic patients detained under the Mental Health Act
- Taking a lead role within the multi-disciplinary teams for child and adult safeguarding
- Undertaking assessments regarding current social circumstances and the impact of social issues on patients’ mental health and recovery
- Completing reports for CPAs, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings
- Supporting patients in developing feasible plans for the future and working towards discharge
- Taking a lead role within the multi-disciplinary teams on non-medical mental capacity issues and best interest decisions
- Liaising with a host of external agencies to enable them to fulfil their statutory duties, for example: MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation
- Supporting carers and families of detained patients
- Delivering occasional safeguarding training
To be successful as a Social Worker you will have:
- Good working knowledge of the relevant legislation
- ASYE qualified
- At least 2 years’ experience of working in mental health
- Be registered with Social Work in England
- Understand and champion the social perspective on mental health
