As a Child ProtectionSocial Worker in Portsmouth, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at risk of harm or neglect. Working within a dynamic and supportive team, you will assess, plan, and intervene to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and families. Responsibilities:
Assessment and Intervention: Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks, needs, and strengths. Develop and implement effective intervention plans to address identified concerns and promote child safety.
Case Management: Manage a complex caseload of Child Protection cases, ensuring timely and appropriate intervention. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, reports, and documentation in accordance with departmental policies and statutory requirements.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and professionals from various disciplines to develop and implement multi-agency plans. Attend case conferences, meetings, and court hearings as required.
Support and Advocacy: Provide support and advocacy for children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes. Work towards empowering families to make positive changes and access necessary support services.
Risk Management: Assess and manage risks associated with Child Protection cases. Take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and escalate concerns as needed. Implement and review safety plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
Court Proceedings: Prepare and present evidence for court proceedings when necessary. Collaborate with legal professionals and represent the local authority in court hearings related to Child Protection matters.
Training and Continuous Professional Development: Participate in relevant training and development opportunities to enhance skills and stay abreast of changes in legislation, policy, and best practice in Child Protection.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Social Work qualification (BA/BSc in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Social Work England registration.
