Role Overview:
As a Duty and Assessment Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in responding to concerns about the welfare and safety of children in St. Helens. You will be responsible for conducting section 47 enquiries, Child in Need (CIN) assessments, and planning interventions to support children and their families. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with professionals to ensure that children receive the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct section 47 enquiries and CIN assessments to determine the level of risk and need for intervention.
• Develop and implement support plans for children and families, in collaboration with other professionals and agencies.
• Work with children on Child in Need plans for a short-term basis until step-down or step-up to Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC).
• Transfer cases to the longer-term assessment service when necessary, ensuring continuity of care and support.
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues and other professionals involved in the care of children and families.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all assessments, interventions, and decisions, in accordance with statutory requirements and organizational policies.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (HCPC).
• Experience and knowledge in dealing with section 47 enquiries, CIN assessments, and planning interventions to support children and families.
• Strong assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals.
• Commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families and adhering to professional standards and codes of practice.
